more to come … this blog has been abandoned for a while now and i’ve got lots of catching up to do. at some point it will have a new look and feel to be more inline with traci meyer photography. my goal is to somehow continue to keep this blog personal, as well as business related so we shall see … that’s quite an undertaking. but today, watching and listening to president obama speak, i feel newly motivated about all kinds of things.
never have i, at an age where it meant anything to me, felt the country ready to make sacrifices, to make changes, to work together for positive change. watching those millions at the inauguration today made me realize this country is ready to be led. and i have hope for the future, for my kids, for their kids, for our families.
what do i know really … my words aren’t powerful, my political background isn’t submersed in history and trivia that rolls off my tongue easily. but over the past number of months, i’ve listened, i’ve learned, i’ve become involved instead of just voting, and i’ve watched others become involved. my almost five year old continues to ask lots of questions about it all, trying to understand what he can at his age, and i want to continue to stress the amazingness (i know, not even a word but it’s late) about today. that a man who would have been legally segregated when poppy was a child, has now been elected to run this great country.
brendan says he wants to be president one day. he wants to be able to fly on air force 1 and be in a bullet proof car with “wheels that can’t pop” and “make funny faces out the window at the bad guys that can’t get in”. his reasons have no significant connection with history of course but that doesn’t really bother me. because somewhere in that little head of his, he does get that something important happened today. and that’s all that matters.
